Jagjit Singh - Tere Khushboo Mein Base Khat
the world has lost yet another legend today. Jagjit Singh, rightfully called Ghazal King, had made this art popular by creating his own style: a mix of semi-classical music, an incredible sense of poetry and a few instruments from the Western world.
i’ve grown up listening to his music. so has my dad. so has every single member of my family. we’ve spent nights singing his songs. we’ve seen him play live in Mauritius… and from what i sensed from that night was that he’d continue singing till the very end.
and he did. on the night he had his stroke, he was about to have a show with another legend, Ghulam Ali.
may he rest in peace.
