i did my qawwali debut last night with John of Zighur Hat and his family of musicians. i might have started a tad too high on the pitch but settled pretty well in the end. that was a great first experience singing urdu songs in front of complete strangers…and a reminder to start the riyaaz (daily practice) again; those alaaps need much polishing. in any case, there is space for sufi music here in bordeaux!
