Gone Tomorrow - Lambchop

Lambchop - Gone Tomorrow

just like Wilco’s Art of Almost last year, this is the kind of song that gets even better in the latter half; starting as a alt-country piece that then gathers grandeur with string arrangements that surprising include a tanpura. thank you, people at All Songs, for this introduction.

bitzlbitzlr:

Lambchop - ‘Gone Tomorrow’

Kurt Wagner’s distinct drawl rings out between string sweeps and sprawling arrangements on ‘Gone Tomorrow’, the latest cut from Lambchop’s upcoming Mr. M album - a record tribute to Wagner’s friendship with the late, great Vic Chesnutt.

Like the Mr. M’s hearlding song  ‘If Not I’ll Just Die’, ‘Gone Tomorrow’ marries the band’s alt-country heritage with an orchestrated ramble and the soul that they have always projected.

Mr. M will be released February 20th, 2012 on Merge Records / City Slang.
