threadsy

While I’m not close to declare email bankruptcy like Fred Wilson, I’ve been trying different new solutions lately. So as promised, I’ve tried using threadsy as my primary email/facebook/twitter client for a week. This app promises to solve a major problem and deals with it pretty well by using a 2-column system: one for email, facebook inbox and comments, twitter mentions and DMs; and the other column being a twitter+facebook stream which can be hidden from view. A Meebo toolbar at the bottom allows for IMing to all major networks too!

My issue with threadsy is this. I’m too much used to my gmail account. The zero-inbox freak in me gets sick at the inbound stream. I’ve already setup my primary gmail account to fetch mails from elsewhere. Using all kinds of filters, I’ve already setup a bacn pane for social networks. Google talk is enough for me as IM on a daily basis. And I need my Remember The Milk and Calendar widgets. As for twitter, lists have made it more useful, so I need something like Seesmic or Tweetdeck.

Just like someone not ready to leave Outlook, I can’t switch from the gmail web interface anymore. No threadsy adoption for me, yet.

By the way, this post also applies to Inbox2.
